  1. Great post. I think it’s helpful to see how other songwriters face an empty sheet of paper. And this is a great reminder: “One of the best things about songwriting is repetition. I like it because you can say the same thing over and over and sound really good, which doesn’t work very well in the rest of my life. ” I tend to shy away from repetition and I know my songs suffer because of it.

      Thanks Erin! Good luck, and I try not to use repetition too much, but I do remember that the Kink’s had a major hit with only three lines in the song. “Girl, you really got me…” -JGS
