Inching Towards Destiny?

Whew- it’s hot, and I haven’t posted an update in forever!

Winter was long, and we complained. Today it’s 90 degrees or more, and we are complaining. Apparently we just complain.

Last night we had one heck of a hail storm while I was playing at Cannon Mine in Lafayette. Now my truck is dented. I’m trying not to complain. It was a great gig. Thanks to everyone who came out.

This next record keeps inching along with the help of some really dedicated folks. I appreciate their efforts so much. We had Lyons local Enion Pelta-Tiller in a few weeks ago to help with a song. She’s an AMAZING fiddle player (check out her band Taarka). It was really cool and fun to have someone so talented come in and do her thing.

Tomorrow I’ll be back in the studio with some great singers getting into the background vocals. I’m really looking forward to it! Look for clips on Instagram. And so we keep inching along, although we are much closer to the end than the beginning. We have a little more tracking, then on to the next part. I just keep going. What else is there to do, really?

It was time to get new pictures taken (not my favorite part), and I had a great time up in Central City with my friend Courtney, who is an awesome photographer (check out her work at The Wilderness Gems). I can’t imagine having fun while having my picture taken with any one else.

In other news, I have a few solo gigs this summer, and there might be a few late adds, but I’ve mainly been rehearsing with a new live band. I’m pretty excited about that, and hopefully we’ll be out playing some full band shows this fall/early winter. Look for news and maybe some video by the end of July or so. Here’s a quick rehearsal clip.

Stay tuned for album release dates. I’m shy of putting down anything concrete until I know it’s for sure, but I’m hoping (and it is a good hope) that we’ll be letting you know by the end of the summer when the new record is coming (we really are that close).

In the meantime, have a great summer, stay cool, and keep in touch.
