Apparently, this is what I look like standing on your table. Thanks to Neil Smart for the pic.
Yeah, so I was playing an outdoor set last weekend. Although it’s January, we are enjoying some really warm weather, and it was a beautiful day on Sunday. It was also the weekend of the Upstream Songwriter’s Retreat in Estes Park. As a part of that retreat we have a day of performance in Lyons for all the songwriters. There were performance all over town.
I finished the day at Mainstage– an awesome pizza/music place here in town. In the warm weather we played out in the beer garden- but we didn’t have any kind of PA. No singer really likes to do that- luckily, I’m really loud, so I was doing fine for about 2/3ds of the set. I played my loudest rowdiest songs. But that’s a lot of work on the voice, and I knew I needed to back off a bit- however, the patio we were on was pretty far back from the people in the beer garden- which is no big deal when you have a PA helping you out.
I had a few friends in the crowd and they yelled come closer- so I did.
I’m definitely adding table dances to the repertoire from now on.
Earlier in the day I got to share a song with my friend Rebecca Jonas from the All Through The Night Band. I really love the cello on this song. Maybe we’ll put a cello on regular rotation?
And that was the close of January!
On To February Stuff…
February 2- I’m the musical accompaniment at my friend Sean Hudsons art opening at The Art Social in Denver. He’s an awesome painter and I’m excited to provide some vibe for the evening.
February 8- Me and the fellas will be rockin’ the Merc up in Jamestown. You have never been to the Merc? This is your chance! It’s will remind you why you live in Colorado.
February 10- John and I will be bringing a duo set up to High Hops Brewery in Windsor. NoCo look out!
February 22-25- I’ll be at Folk Alliance International’s annual conference in Kansas City, MO. Check the show schedule for showcase times.
And then…
February 28- The trio will be rockin’ Rosalees Pizza in Longmont. Come on out, eat square pie, rock hard.
So that’s a pretty busy month. Stay safe, have fun, and see ya out there. Look for me dancing on a table.
Follow me wherever you are!
