Yup, that’s about where I’m at. If you’re celebrating something this month I hope it was good for you and yours. I spent Christmas isolating with COVID, so that’s where I’m at. Plus, here in Colorado, 2021 is not going quietly. So we’re spending New Year’s Eve pondering that.
While the end of the year is pretty sucky, I do feel good about somethings that happened this year. One, we’re still here! Stop and pat yourself on the back. We’re all still here. That’s always good.
We had some great shows as a trio- I really love playing with Derek and John, and while the pandemic continues to make live shows feel very iffy, I’m looking forward to playing more shows in 2022. Our highlight for the year was definitely our Friday night set at Casey Jones in September.
And while the world continues to be crazy, there are some shows on the calendar in the new year. Highlights include opening for Scott Cook at The Lodge in Denver, recurring solo shows at Awake Denver, and there are several more cool shows cooking in the kitchen as we speak.
If you’ve been following along, then you know I released a new song about a month ago- the response has been great. Thank you to all the folks who have followed on Spotify. I know it sounds silly, but in the current state of the indy music world, it really does make a difference if you follow me on Spotify. No, it won’t make me any money, but it makes a difference in how Spotify deals with new releases. Look for a full length video out in the next week or so! In the meantime- here is the teaser we put together to get you started.
On that note. There are some new songs in the pipeline. I’ve given up trying to predict when I will actually get anything specific finished, but look for new music in 2022. I’m just going to release one song at a time rather than try to put a whole album together. So that will be fun I hope!!
As I write this today we are discovering the extent of the damage from the Marshall Fires here in Boulder County today. As I said at the top, it seems that 2021 is not going quietly. About every ten minutes I see or hear that another friend or family that we know has lost their home and everything in it. As residents of Lyons, we are very familiar with hasty evacuations, lost homes, and trying to wrap our heads around what to do next. If you are so inclined, the Boulder County Wildfire Fund would be a great way to show your support.
If you read this far, thank you so much for all your enthusiasm and support this year. I hope we get a chance to see each other in the new year, and share the joy of some live music.
Follow me wherever you are!
Bruce
Best of luck in the New Year and be safe.
