Who are your heroes?

August 26, 2018 by JGstott Leave a Comment

If Darrell Scott played guitar in your band at a club show on a Saturday night, everyone who heard it would swear he was the best guitar player they had ever heard. If he sang at that gig, they would swear he was the best singer they had ever heard. If he played his songs, … [Read more…]

CXCW 2016- sort of.

March 20, 2016 by JGstott Leave a Comment

First- I’m still riding the high from the release show last week. Thanks you all again for coming- that felt pretty good. And a ton of people have taken the time to tell me they enjoyed the show or really liked a particular song. That means a lot. The whole reason to make a record … [Read more…]

Release Day Thank Yous!

March 12, 2016 by JGstott Leave a Comment

So it’s release day. If you didn’t know about this before landing on this post, all I can say is you are remarkably free of the disease of social media, because I did my best to get the word out. We’re doing a show tonight at Oskar Blues in Lyons. I’m hoping to see a … [Read more…]

What’s fun? Stickers!

February 6, 2016 by JGstott Leave a Comment

Ask any kid, stickers are cool. We all like stickers, ’cause they’re, well, sticky. And fun. You can stick ’em places. All kinds of places- cars, bars, walls, halls, cases, faces. It’s like freakin’ Dr. Seuss, only better ’cause you’ve got stickers. At least, if you pre-order Dirt & Heartache you do. Pre-order a CD, … [Read more…]

Listening Party Part 2: This Road Leads to You

January 21, 2016 by JGstott Leave a Comment

Here’s another song from Dirt & Heartache for you to check out. That’s John Macy making the pedal steel guitar sound so fantastic. He’s one of the few people on the record who doesn’t live in Lyons. He came all the way up from Denver to lay down these tracks. He really helped make this … [Read more…]

Public Service Announcement: PR Campaign Warning

December 23, 2015 by JGstott Leave a Comment

As I mentioned last week, I made a record. Those of of you following from the bleachers have known this is coming. I’m pretty excited. It is 21st century technology that makes it possible for someone like me to even contemplate making recordings of songs that are anything beyond what I made in my room … [Read more…]

So, I made a record…

December 13, 2015 by JGstott 1 Comment

Well, that took a whole lot longer than I had anticipated. To say the least. About eighteen months ago I sat down with Brian Schey and we talked about making a ‘little record.’ I figured we could get it done by the end of the summer. Summer of 2014 that was. Hah! In July, after … [Read more…]

Song School and Folks Fest 2015!

August 22, 2015 by JGstott Leave a Comment

Last week I was in Song School, which was awesome, then Folks Festival happened. This year Jason Isbell was the Saturday night headliner. Pretty much as good as it gets. One of my favorites playing outside and walking distance from my house. There were tons of other great sets at Folks: Kasey Chambers, The Wood Brothers, … [Read more…]

Summer Heat

June 28, 2015 by JGstott Leave a Comment

Whew. After a rainy spring which had a few tense evenings watching the river, the climate has gone back to Colorado normal. The grass is turning brown, it’s 90 plus. The sky is blue. I can’t complain. The record keeps slowly wending it’s way through the process. We’ll be mastering and getting ready for production … [Read more…]

Couches and Such…CXCW Wrap-up

April 22, 2015 by JGstott Leave a Comment

I never did a Couch by Couchwest wrap-up, so here it is. My life was way too busy with things that didn’t involve music this year, so CXCW blew by in a hurry. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t awesome. I really enjoy checking out all the great acts from all over the country (and … [Read more…]
